Online check-in from home at Icelandair

TM Software has developed a check-in system for the airline Icelandair enabling passengers to check-in online for all flights from Iceland. The check-in system was formerly opened on the 8th of March and passenger can now simply visit www.icelandair.is and check-in to their flights 22 hours prior to their flight.

The check-in is easy. The passenger simply types his/hers surname and booking number and can then select his/hers seat. Then the passenger prints out the boarding pass with a barcode. This only takes about a minute and when arriving at the Leifur Eiriksson Air Terminal the passenger simply goes to one of the self service kiosks where the luggage ticket can be printed and hands in his/hers luggage at a special check-in desk. The passenger can then go straight forward to the security gate with the boarding pass.

“We are increasing our passenger’s service even more with our online check-in and cutting down on the waiting period at the terminal. We see rapid development in e-ticket purchasing and this is another step towards the future. This service has been in technical preparation for some time. We started off by introducing it in Iceland where most of our passengers travel to and from. Our plan is then to introduce it at one destination point at a time”, says Gunnar Már Sigurfinnsson, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales of Icelandair at Icelandair’s website.
