TM Software was founded in 1986 in Iceland by former CEO, Friðrik Sigurðsson. The company operated first under the name TölvuMyndir which was changed to TM Software in 2005. 

Its Innovators, Friðrik Sigurðsson, vision that the role of Information Technology is to work on complex and diverse tasks has lead the company. From beginning this vision and the innovation powers has driven the employees of TM Software. The growth and development of TM Software has kept up with the fast evolvement of the information technology.

In 2008 Nýherji bought TM Software hf., which had been parent company of  Skyggnir ehf, Origo ehf, Vigor ehf, and EMR ehf. 

In November 2008 Nýherji changes its business model and the inner organisation of the Nýherji group.  Skyggnir and Vigor were split from TM Software, Origo and TM Software merged and EMR became TM Software’s subsidiary along with SimDex ehf., prior subsidiary of Nýherji.  The projects and 20 employees working with Microsoft and IBM portal solutions at Applicon, Skyggnir and Nýherji moved over to  TM Software.

History: 

  • 1986 – TM Software founded in Iceland by President and CEO Friðrik Sigurðsson.
  • 1992 – Independent divisions established – separation of programming and operational services.
  • 1996 – Merger of TölvuMyndir and Skyggnir, transforming the company into its existing structure as a software development company focused on specific verticals and supported by a robust cross- industry expertise
  • 1998 – Merge of Kerfisfræðistofan and Forritun into Forritun AKS
  • 1999 – Tölvumyndir and Forritun AKS merge
  • 1999 – Opening of the first international office in Canada.
  • 2000 – TölvuMyndir spins off Skyggnir & Maritech.
  • 2000 – Vigor formed as TölvuMyndir subsidary  
  • 2001 – Maritech becomes largest software supplier for fishing worldwide through mergers in Norway.
  • 2003 – Acquisition of the healthcare software companies Doc.ehf and eMR.ehf.
  • 2004 – Skyggnir and Maritech again part of company's consolidation. Offices opened in the Netherlands, Germany, Chile, USA, Norway, UK.
  • 2005 – Name formally changed to TM Software from TölvuMyndir.
  • 2006 - Maritech sold to Akva Group.
  • 2006 - Ágúst Einarsson becomes the new CEO after Friðrik Sigurðsson's resignation.
  • 2008 - TM Software sells a part of it's Healthcare unit; the Theriak products.
  • 2008 - Nýherji acquires TM Software.
  • 2008 – Nýherji changes the organisation and Nýherji‘s group business model. Sjyggnir ehf. and Vigor ehf. separated from TM Software, their former parent company
  • 2008 - TM Software and Origo ehf. merge under one name TM Software, becoming the parent company of EMR ehf and SimDex ehf. that was prior by Nýherji. Employees who worked in Microsoft and IBM portal solutions at Applicon, Skyggnir og Nýherji are united into TM Software
